White Oaks Centre for the Treatment of Individuals Addicted to Drugs or Alcohol

Residential Treatment

Our 30 day residential programme is based on the Minnesota Model.  The long term goals of treatment are to encourage the person to live life free from mind altering substances and to provide strategies that will help individuals in living creative, productive, happy lives. One to one counselling, group therapy, lectures, meditation and therapeutic duties form part of each individual’s treatment plan.

The 30-day residential programme is the initial stage of treatment and the Centre offers a two year Aftercare Programme.

The Future

The Management are considering offering separate programmes for those needing prolonged residential aftercare and also a Detox Programme which will precede primary treatment.

Ethos

White Oaks Rehabilitation Centre is situated on a 35 acre site in the Donegal hills, about half a mile from Derry City. The sponsoring body of the Centre is the Columba Community who, together with Christians from other denominations, people in recovery and medical personnel came together to provide this safe, supportive and abstinent environment where the client is at the centre of this programme of recovery. All staff work towards creating this atmosphere of concern and care helping those wishing to live a life free from addiction.

The ethos of the Centre is strongly influenced by the spirituality of Columba, believing that

those who wait on the Lord shall want nothing” Psalm 3 I : I

As individuals we are cleansed, renewed and come close to “the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world” John, chapter I verse 29.
